John R. Ferguson
Past District Governor MD26G - 2003-2004

Past District Governor John R. “Jack” Ferguson, member and officer of the Host Lions Club of Independence, Missouri, was appointed by Lions Clubs International President Ashok Meta as part of the prestigious Lions International Mission Thirty Team for 2005-2006.

Among many other Lion accomplishments are: District Governor of Multiple District 26G for 2003-2004, at which time he was awarded the 100% District Governor's Award; Lions International Membership Growth Workshop for 2004; holds the Lions Global Key for bringing in 250 members; has formed six new clubs; and has many extension and membership awards from Lions International.
Lion “Jack” is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow; and was presented the Ambassador of Goodwill Award, the highest honor bestowed on a member by Lions Clubs International; and was named his District's Lion of the Year for 2002-2003. He holds many Lions International awards, including: five Lions Certificates of Appreciation; One Lions International President's Leadership Award; and two Lions International President's Award.

Lion “Jack” is President of the Ferguson Group. He has been a civic leader in business, education, church, and numerous community endeavors. He was named Independence Citizen of the Year in 1979. Just a few of his other many activities have been: President of Herald Publishing House in Independence, 1969-1983; President of KMOS-TV and KCMW-FM in 1986, and director from 1977-1986; Independence Board of Education, 1970-1976; President and Director of Metro. K.C. area Drug Abuse Inc.; and President of Eastern Jackson County Red Cross, 1985-1987.

PDG “Jack” received a Masters Degree in Religious Studies from the School of the Restoration and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University. He served as minister of Long Beach, California church in 1963-1964.

PDG “Jack” is married to Lion Jan, and enjoys being with their son, Steve, and daughter, Connie, and their five grandchildren.

Lion Ferguson is the first Advisory Board Director of the Foundation from outside District 21. This position was created by the vote of the district at the 2005 convention.
