PCC John W. Barnett

Past Council Chairman John W. Barnett, of England, Arkansas, has been a Lion since 1974 and he is presently a Consultant for Lions Clubs International in the New Club Extension Program. He has held many offices within the Association, including Club President, Tail Twister, Cabinet Secretary and District Governor. His stint as Council Chairman took place during 1999-2000. He has received multiple International President's Certificates of Appreciation, three Presidential Medals, and has been a Presenter for the USA/ Canada Leadership Forum. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow. Lion John has sponsored over one thousand members. Has received twenty-two (22) Extension Awards and has helped form over 100 new Lions Clubs. In 2000 he was in the TOP five (5) for the International Academy Award for Lion of the Year. He is also presently a Member-Board of Directors for the Melvin Jones Lions International Memorial, here in Fort Thomas.

In addition to his Lion Activities, Past Council Chairman Barnett has been active in other service areas. He helped raise over $800,000.00 for the United Way of Greater Texarkana in 1993-1994.

As a Mason/Shriner, he has been involved ;in the Annual Shriner's Crippled Childrens Hospital Drive. He has been honored with the GOLDEN TROWEL AWARD, the highest award given by this organization. He has received citations from Congressmen and Governors of both Texas and Arkansas for his work with civic causes.

He is married to PDG Wanda and they have two children, four grand children, and a special Angel named Brandon.
